Getting started

How does Final Call work?

Final Call lives in your Mac's menu bar and reads your Apple Calendar. It shows a live countdown to your next meeting, and just before each meeting a full-screen overlay appears with the meeting title, a countdown, and a one-click Join button. Meeting links are detected automatically, so you never have to hunt for them.

How do I set it up the first time?

Download Final Call from the Mac App Store and launch it. On first start it asks for access to your Calendar (and optionally Camera and Microphone for the live preview). Grant Calendar access and Final Call immediately begins showing your agenda and countdown in the menu bar. No account or sign-up is required.

I opened the app but see no window. Where is it?

Final Call has no dock window by design — it lives in the menu bar at the top-right of your screen. Click the menu bar icon to open your agenda, and use the settings option there to configure everything.

Permissions & troubleshooting

Final Call isn't showing my meetings. What's wrong?

This almost always means Calendar access hasn't been granted. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Calendars, and make sure Final Call is enabled. Then quit and reopen the app. Also check that your meetings actually live in Apple Calendar — if your work calendar exists only in a separate app, add it as an account in the macOS Calendar app first.

The music doesn't pause when a meeting starts. How do I fix it?

Automatic music pause uses macOS automation to control Apple Music and Spotify. The first time it runs, macOS asks for permission to control those apps — if you declined, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Automation, find Final Call, and enable the switches for Music and Spotify. If you don't see them yet, trigger a meeting overlay once so macOS registers the request, then check again. Music auto-pause can also be turned off entirely in Final Call's settings.

The webcam preview or mic meter is black or not working.

The live preview needs Camera and Microphone permission. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and enable Final Call under both Camera and Microphone. If the app was already running, quit and reopen it after granting access. Both the webcam preview and mic meter are optional and can be disabled in settings if you prefer.

I'm not getting the full-screen overlay before meetings.

Make sure Final Call is running (its icon is in the menu bar) and that the meeting is in a calendar Final Call can read. Confirm the overlay lead time in settings is set to when you want the reminder to appear. If you use Focus or Do Not Disturb, the overlay still appears, but check that the app is allowed to run.

How do I open System Settings to change a permission?

Click the Apple menu in the top-left of your screen, choose System Settings, then Privacy & Security. From there pick the specific category (Calendars, Camera, Microphone, or Automation), find Final Call in the list, and toggle it on. A quick relaunch of Final Call applies the change.

I denied a permission by accident. Can I re-enable it?

Yes. Every permission can be changed any time in System Settings, under Privacy & Security, in the matching category (Calendars, Camera, Microphone, Automation). Enable Final Call there and relaunch the app.

Configuration

Can I change how much notice the overlay gives me?

Yes. In settings you can set how many minutes before a meeting the full-screen overlay appears, so the reminder fits how you like to prepare.

Can I show the meeting name in the menu bar?

Yes. Final Call can show just the countdown, or the countdown plus the next meeting's name, directly in the menu bar. Toggle this in settings.

What are the snooze options?

When the overlay appears you can snooze it for +3 minutes, +5 minutes, or until the meeting starts. It comes back so you don't lose track.

Can I use keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Join, Snooze, and Dismiss all have fully customizable keyboard shortcuts, so you can run the whole overlay without touching the mouse. Set them in settings.

Can I customize the overlay background?

Yes. The meeting overlay background can use a blur or dim effect, so the reminder fits the way you work.

Can I turn off music auto-pause, webcam, or mic features?

Yes. Music auto-pause, the live webcam preview, and the microphone level meter are each optional and can be switched on or off independently in settings.

System requirements

What do I need to run Final Call?

Final Call runs on macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It reads Apple Calendar, so your meetings should be available in the macOS Calendar app.

Does it work on Windows or iPhone?

No — Final Call is a native macOS menu bar app and is available only on the Mac App Store.

Which meeting platforms are supported?

Final Call detects meeting links for 18 platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, Slack, FaceTime, GoTo Meeting, Whereby, Discord, BlueJeans, Wire, Jitsi, Nextcloud Talk, Amazon Chime, RingCentral, 8x8 Meet, and Zoho Meeting.

Trial, purchase & subscription

Is the free trial really free?

Yes — 14 days with full features and no credit card required. Nothing is charged unless you decide to buy after the trial.

What's the difference between the one-time purchase and the subscription?

It's the same app with all features either way. The one-time purchase is paid once and yours to keep forever (the best value for most people). The monthly subscription is simply an alternative if you'd rather pay over time.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside the app. On your Mac, open System Settings, click your name, then Media & Purchases, then Manage next to Subscriptions — or open the App Store, click your name, and choose Account Settings. Select Final Call and choose Cancel. You keep access until the end of the current billing period. On iPhone or iPad signed in with the same Apple ID, you can also manage it under Settings, your name, then Subscriptions.

Will I lose my one-time purchase if I get a new Mac?

No. Your one-time purchase is tied to your Apple ID. On a new Mac, download Final Call from the App Store while signed in with the same Apple ID, and use Restore Purchases if prompted.

How do refunds work?

Purchases and subscriptions go through the App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and request a refund for Final Call.

Will the launch price stay the same?

The launch price is an introductory offer and may increase later. Any purchase you've already made is never affected by future price changes.

Privacy

Does Final Call send my calendar anywhere?

No. All calendar data is read and stored locally on your Mac. It's never transmitted to external servers or third parties.

Is anything from my camera or microphone recorded?

No. The webcam preview and mic meter are live and local only — nothing is ever recorded or transmitted.
