Google Meet Reminder for Mac

Final Call ·

Google Meet runs in the browser, and so do its reminders. On a Mac that means: if the Google Calendar tab is closed, or the browser isn’t allowed to send notifications, you get no reminder at all. And if you do, it’s a small banner that disappears after a few seconds.

Final Call is a meeting reminder for Mac that doesn’t depend on a browser tab. It reads your calendar, fills the screen just before each Google Meet call and opens the meeting with one click.

How it works

1. Add your Google account to macOS. Open System Settings → Internet Accounts → Google, sign in and turn on Calendars. Your Google Calendar now appears in the macOS Calendar app. Final Call reads it from there, without a Google login of its own.

2. Final Call does the rest. The menu bar shows the time to your next meeting. Shortly before the start, a full-screen reminder appears with a countdown, the meeting title and a Join button.

3. One click into the call. Join opens the meet.google.com link in your default browser. Apple Music and Spotify pause automatically.

Why a full-screen reminder helps with Google Meet

Browser notifications have three weak points on the Mac. They need an open tab. They need permission in System Settings → Notifications for your browser. And Focus modes can silence them. Final Call runs as a small app in the menu bar, so none of that matters: the reminder appears on top of whatever you’re doing, even in full-screen apps.

Before you join, the reminder can show your camera image and microphone level, so you know you look and sound right. Both are optional, and nothing is recorded.

Also for Zoom, Teams and others

Most people don’t only use Google Meet. Final Call detects links from 18 services, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Slack, and reminds you of all of them the same way. More: Zoom meeting reminder, Teams meeting reminder. Having trouble with Google Calendar alerts in general? Read Google Calendar notifications on Mac.
